Inside

If you fancy being Lord of the Manor, take exclusive hire of this fantastic Grade I Listed country house set in its own estate. From the characterful panelled reception rooms on the ground floor to the delectable dining room and roaring fire in the drawing room; historical points of interest are rife in this sixteenth century property. The house is still owned by the family that is directly descended from the original owners, the Lloyd family, since medieval times. (Please be advised the study on the ground floor is unavailable to guests during their stay).

  • Style: Original features combine in this family home that is characterful property; as perfect for curling up with a glass of red infront of the roaring fire as sitting in the garden of a summer’s afternoon, or enjoying a 3-course meal in the grand dining room.
  • Bedrooms:First Floor: There are three double bedrooms en suite and a four posted bedroom with a seperate bathroom. Second Floor: There is a double en suite and two doubles with a shared bathroom (2 of these double beds can be made into twins)
  • For relaxation: Stoke the fire and recline in a sumptuous sofa in the drawing room; or if you’d rather a little ‘me’ time, then the library is a cosy den in which to squirrel yourself away. (Please be advised the study on the ground floor is unavailable to guests during their stay).
  • For recreation: The attic cinema room is the perfect place to relax; where comfy chairs, a neutral pallet and a plethora of DVDs, computer and board games combine.

Outside

Sitting in some 100-acres of park and surrounding fields, whether you prefer to sit in the south-facing garden to the front of the house, or just don your wellies and have an explore of the grounds, there’s plenty to enjoy at the house itself. Until about 1860, what is the drive of the house today was the main road and a thoroughfare for travellers. A Llettae - eight small vaulted cells under a stone roof were built - to provide accommodation for these travellers; they are still standing today.

Food and Wine

  • The homely kitchen, complete with AGA, contains everything you need to create a delectable celebratory meal; there’s even a smaller dining table perfect for little ones to sit at for an early supper.
  • In-house cuisine: Breakfast is included in the rental. If you’d rather relax and let someone else do all the work when it comes to dinner, then local caterers can be called upon to create everything from an informal brunch to a 6-course feast.
  • Eating out: Locally, there’s the Druid Inn and 56 High St, Mold and Make a booking at the Tyddyn Llan near Corwen (¾ hour’s drive from the property) or the Chester Grosvenor Hotel, both featured in Good Food Guide’s Top 40 UK Restaurants.

Getting There:

  • On the map: Set at the end of a long private drive, just outside Mold. Located centrally from the Midlands, North West England and at the entrance to the North Wales coast.
  • By car: A 25-minute drive from Chester, 45-minutes from Liverpool and an hour from Manchester.
  • By train: Chester is the nearest main-line station from which direct trains to London Euston take 2 ¼ hours.
  • By plane: Liverpool (John Lennon) and Manchester International airports are around 45 minutes from the property. Guests can be collected from rail stations or airports as required at an additional cost.

Out and About

  • Mold, just a mile from the property, has an open air street market every Wednesday and Saturday as well as the world-class Clwyd Theatre showing live theatre and films, daily
  • Explore the Roman City of Chester and historic Chester Cathedral, visit Chester racecourse; or just enjoy a spot of shopping
  • History: Visit beautiful St. Mary’s Church, overlooking Mold, dedicated by the formidable Lady Elizabeth Beaufort to her son, Henry Tudor after his victory at Bosworth Field in after which he became Henry Vll of England
  • If you’re feeling energetic, walk up Moel Famau through nearby Loggerheads Country Park
  • Drive over Horseshoe Pass to the delightful town of Llangollen, home of the annual music festival
  • Visit Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in England and Wales, and travel to the top via the mountain railway
